Inclement Weather

It won't be long until snow or ice accumulations may delay or close our schools. Announcements concerning school closings will be broadcast on local radio stations (KICKS 103.3 FM and WJRI 1340 AM) and Charlotte television stations (WBTV-3, WSOC-9, and NBC6). You may also call the information line at 728-2800 or 728-8407 for information concerning school delays and closings. The scrolling banner on Gamewell Elementary's home page will be updated with the latest cancellation/delay information unless winter storms result in power outages or the phone lines go out. If that occurs, we will not be able to update our page in a timely manner.

Early Dismissal

Occasionally it becomes necessary for the Superintendent to close schools early due to bad weather after students have arrived for the school day. Please remember since we share buses with Gamewell Middle School, GAMEWELL ELEMENTARY WILL DISMISS 30 MINUTES EARLIER THAN THE TIME STATED BY RADIO OR TELEVISION. For example, when it is announced "Caldwell County Schools are dismissed at 11:00 AM", Gamewell Elementary will dismiss at 10:30 AM.

Please note that the daycare WILL NOT OPEN after school when school is dismissed early. All students will need to be picked up early or ride home on the bus.

No School

When it snows overnight and school is cancelled, the local radio stations and the Charlotte television stations will be notified. Please listen to one of them for the latest information.

Delays

If school is delayed ONE hour, the cafeteria WILL serve breakfast and students will report to their grade level's designated area. If school is delayed TWO hours, breakfast WILL NOT be served and students will go straight to their classrooms when they arrive.
