Ways You Can Help G.E.S.

Want to help Gamewell Elementary, but don't know how?  Try some of these suggestions...

1.  Volunteer to work with students who need some extra help...for an hour or all day.  Contact our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Barthet, will be glad to make arrangements for you to work with students who need some additional help in order to be successful.

2.  Support your child's teacher and stay in touch with her.  Most of our teachers ask students to spend at least 10 - 15 minutes per night reading.  Do your part to make sure they get the practice they need to become good readers.

3.  Help when an extra hand is needed with special projects and activities.  Contact one of the Volunteer Coordinators, Jennifer Altizer & Adrienne McKinnon, and let them know which days/times you could help.

4.  Collect UPC codes from the foods in the Campbell's Labels for Education program, such as Campbell's Soups, Pepperidge Farms Goldfish, Prego, etc.  Click here to go to the Labels for Education list of eligible products.  Collection bins are in the lobby and media center.

5.  Send your empty inkjet & laserjet printer cartridges to the school.  Cash-4-Kids will give us $2 - $12 cash for each empty cartridge we turn in.  Click here to go to a list of qualifying printer cartridges at the Cash-4-Kids web site.  During the 2002-2003 school year, we received checks totaling more than $500 for the cartridges that were turned in!  Collection boxes are in the lobby and media center.

6.  Collect General Mill's Boxtops for Education coupons.  For each coupon, the PTO will receive 25 cents.  Click here for a list of participating brands at the Box Tops for Education web site.   Each classroom has a collection box, and PTO gives the class with the most boxtops receives a special reward.

7.  Sign up for Ingles' Tools For Schools Program.  Click here to enroll online for the Ingles Tools For Schools 2005-2006 program so Gamewell Elementary will receive credit for your purchases and earn free equipment and materials.  If you already have a card and need to re-enroll, our school number is 10888.  If you need an Ingles Advantage Card, applications are available at Ingles or you click here to find a link to print an enrollment form.  When you complete the form, take it to Ingles to get your card.

8.  Sign up for Food Lion's "Lion Shop and Share" Program.  Click here to register your MVP card number under GES PTO to help us.  We will receive 1% of every purchase up to $ 345.00 per quarter.

9. Support our business partner, Food Lion on Morganton Blvd.  They are supporting GES by providing free cookie coupons for our "Student of the Week" and "Student of the Month" programs.
